Dr. Heider has been working on certification through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute, and is soon to be a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT). This certification, available only to veterinarians and physical therapists, is a rigorous program that requires hands-on courses, lectures and an intensive internship program.
CCRT Veterinarians offer patients rehabilitation and physical therapeutics after disease or surgery, or even to better manage and enjoy life with age-related and neurological conditions. These treatments often include therapeutic exercises, laser therapy, electronic stimulation, etc.
After completing her internship this summer at a location out-of-state, Dr. Heider intends to treat patients through a mobile veterinary rehabilitation practice, providing this much-needed service in homes where St. Louis area dogs and cats need it the most!
